December 2008 Summary

We attended my work Christmas party in KC and stayed in a hotel.

Volleyball ended.

Jere and I went to the Price's Christmas party for the first time and stayed with the Morgan's overnight!

Jere went to a KU B-Ball game at the Sprint center (they lost by 1 point) and I hung out with Rachel and Colter on the plaza.

Jere completed his first semester taking 18 hours and working full time. I was so proud of the results. Surprising to me, he's ready to get back to school and get this done!

I helped throw a wedding shower for Melodi.

I danced in the Nutcracker and stayed at TPAC till 11pm every night that week.

The Chapel had it's annual Christmas play with all the kids telling the story of the birth of Christ.

We got together with my family on Christmas Eve to open gifts. Everyone was able to be there! It was so much fun. Later that night Jere and I tried to go look at Christmas lights with our friends Ben & Kristi but most lights were already off at 12:30am.

For Christmas, Jere and slept until about noon (waking up to eat cinnamon rolls from the Bloom family around 10am then going back to sleep!) and then went to my uncle's house in KC. Later that night our friends Austin & Amanda came over with their little Wyatt and played cards till around 10pm! It was a blast.

I helped organize my brother's wedding and stressed over flowers, hair and other details... Thankfully it went great.

My brother, Jodie married his fiance Melodi on December 27th.

We spent time at Scott & Lynn's hanging out with the Canadians.

I chopped my hair off. (I am looking into the future at my 4pm haircut)

Tonight we'll be at Brian & Rachelle's bringing in the new year with friends from the chapel. I'm so looking forward to it!

Here's to a new open schedule and a new year with many changes!!!

November 2008 Monthly Update

Nutcracker practice continued.

Our chapel had a young couples seminar focusing on Stewardship. It was so fun!

We turned the clocks back.

Barack Obama became president elect.

I cleaned up and organized my house.

Arianna Erixson came over and spent the day watching Lord of the Ring's movies. So fun!

Had family night at the Carey's with a bonfire and hot cocoa.

My volleyball team started the winter season (which only lasts for 5 weeks) it's so much fun, I really enjoy it.

Jere went to the KU/Texas game and watched them lose, unfortunetely.

Jere and I went to see L.J's play "Our Town" at his highschool.

We helped host the first ever singles get together through our chapel! It turned out great. Any singles are invited to our next one - Dec. 6th at 12:30. Let me know if you want to attend, it'll be a blast.

I visited InterfaceFLOR carpet plants in Georgia with my work.

Helped and attended a shower for my new sister-in-law, Melodi.

Jere went to a cooking club put on by our friend Shawna.

Jere, me and Melodi went to the airport to pick up my brother Jodie.

Had Thanksgiving at the Daniel's house.

Had Thanksgiving at my Dad and Stepmom's house.

Ran a 4 mile race for the Topeka Rescue Mission.

I put up my Christmas tree!

October 2008 Summary

I really like writing these end of the month posts because it reminds me of everything that's happened! I tend to just go through the motions and forget everything we do.

Ran my second 5K in 32:30 with Merikate and Shawna.

Attended a baby shower for my step-sister Jessica.

Went to a surprise party for Anne.

Proceeded to stop running 'cuz I'm lazy.

Got a free oil change because Jiffy Lube's computers were down :) Sweet!

Started practices for The Nutcracker.

Went to the Gary's Berries corn maze with Mellissa, Chris, Brittany, Thomas, Bethany and Will.

Kendra stayed with us for a few days.

Visited Amanda!

Had the girls over for birthday get together.

Went to the surprise party for Rachel E.

Carved pumpkins with Chris, Thomas, Brian & Rachelle.

Finished playing volleyball - man that flew by and I can't wait to play in the winter league starting November 10th!

Helped my new sister-in-law figure out cake stuff for her wedding!

Went to a barn dance with Jere, Dave and Rachel! It was soo much fun :)

Worked on organizing my jewelery.

Caught up on uploading all the pictures we have...

Spray painted our old night stands and head board that Jessie gave us.

My step-sister Jessica had her baby, Ferris Montgomery on October 27th.

Got new windows installed in our house!

Celebrated Mom's birthday by eating at Hu Hot!

I feel like I'm missing 1 or 20 other things...

September 2008 Summary

This has been such a nice exercise to remember the month and what all has happened considering time seems to be flying by...

I found out that I have two roles in the Nutcracker.

I turned 25 years old.

My dad turned 61 years old.

Jere and I met seven years ago.

Ordered windows from Pella - Oh I am very excited for them to be installed soon.

I rode a horse for the first time in years and it took off with me on it's back.

I started ballet and volleyball. I love both of those activities.

Women's bible study started on the names of God.

Celebrated John Bloom's birthday in Hutchinson.

I visited Hutchinson for the first time.

Jodie and Melodi (here by known as "Jodelodi") got married on paper! I have a new sister in law! Their wedding ceremony and reception is December 27.

Made home-made bread that actually tasted okay and looked okay for the first time.

Made chicken and sweet potato meal for the second time.

Made plans and bought a plane ticket to visit Amanda in October!

I ran my first 5K race in 34:07 minutes. 11:04 minute miles? I'll get better.

Spent a weekend away from Jere and hated the feeling.

I visited the Tulsa, OK aquarium.

Road tripped with Todd, Brian and Rachelle and had fun.

The girls got together to celebrate birthdays. Always fulfilling.

Attended a Supper Club to make food and freeze it for later at Shawna's...What a great idea!

I realized I need to learn how to just live and have no major goals in mind sometimes. Be still.

I found out a friend is pregnant. Congratulations, Friend!

I ran 4 miles without stopping. I've never done that before.

Worked in the yard...and saw three snakes living together under a brush pile I moved. Maybe the yard CAN wait till Spring....

Moved the hutch and built-in's.

Went to Jamie's soccer game.

I ran 7 miles for the first time ever! I did stop a couple times :)

August 2008 Summary

Well another month has gone by and I'm wondering where it's gone and what we've done! I should be writing this stuff down as I go instead of thinking back on it...In no particular order here's what I can remember.

• Jere went to Boston for five days to learn about Silverlight.
• Dave & Doug turned 30 and we celebrated by having a surprise party that they figured out was going to happen.
• Jodie got engaged to Melodi.
• I met Melodi for the first time.
• I met Melodi for the second time.
• I bought my most favorite piece of furniture for $50 while running into Hobby Lobby to pick up a sketchbook for Jere...Thanks for going to school babe. Basically, you made me buy that hutch. ;)
• Bought running shoes as opposed to tennis shoes. Jere has had a pair before but that was several years ago.
• Jere started school and started staying up later than he would like on a consistent basis.
• I found out that another 10.25 people I know or know of are pregnant...There is seriously a baby boom still happening.
• Hung out with my friend Laura.
• I tried out for a position in the Nutcracker Ballet and probably flubbed it (unfortunately, I'm not joking, I'll find out September 17th)
• Made bread for the first time EVER, and totally messed it up.
• Made pretzels for the first time EVER and did okay.
• Made granola bars for the first EVER and did okay.
• Made Yogurt for the third or fourth time and did WELL.
• Made granola for the third or fourth time and did WELL.
• Started shopping at CVS & Walgreens again.
• I signed up a team to play Volleyball this fall in a Rec league.
• Hung out with Renae several times!
• Jere convinced Chris & Thomas to go to Washburn and although it caused turmoil for a few days, it's working out pretty well. Now he has lunch buddies once a week.
• Bought a "Bullet Blender" since our old one bit it a while ago. I love smoothies!
• My brother Jamie started his high school career as a freshman at Topeka West.
• I ran 26.8 miles. (as of 8/27)
• I walked 17 miles.
• I bought new Teva's.
• Jill, Rachel, Elena, Renae and Melodi came to eat dinner and hang out.
• Jeff & Ashlee's baby Ezra was born on 8/8/08! (I just love that)
• I discovered that running has helped my asthma. I don't think I've used my inhaler all month and I am breathing better than ever. Sweet!
• I went to Hutchinson for the first time that I can remember.
• My step-mom turned 62.
• We moved out of Scott & Lynn's and back into our own house.

This month we haven't seen our friends and family as much as we did last month but hopefully that will change as the fall draws near and welcomes us in it's cool embrace. (not that this summer has been hot by any means!) I am ready for fall and winter because it's my favorite time of year!

July 2008 Summary

Here's a few things we did in July.

• Bought four new tires for our Jeep right after returning home.


• Watched "Wall-E" and fell asleep in the theater. Unfortunately, that wasn't the first time I have fallen asleep in a movie at a theater.


• We started back to work July 1st after our Europe trip.


• Celebrated July 4Th with family and church friends without a hitch.


• I bought an Ipod shuffle for myself to listen to at work and while running.


• Went to a reception for my step-sister and her hubby. They got married in San Fransisco and celebrated with all of us back home.
• Hung out several times with my sister Rachel and my friend Renae.
• Hung out with my friend Laura.


• Got to spend a little time with Jere's cousin Adam and his cute wife Allie.
• Visited the local farmers market several times on Saturdays.


• Went to the beautiful wedding of our friends Nick and Brittany.


• Played cards MANY times with friends. (Brian & Rachelle, Joe & Jessie, Dave & Rachel)


• Helped our friends, Josh and Christi move.


• Bought Jere an "Apple" laptop which also came with a free Ipod Touch. (for school)


• Participated in eating dinner at the day camp that our chapel held. Camp Enosh is happening again next year!


• Prayed for Katie Bloom.


• Celebrated my sister's birthday.
• Met Merikate's new puppy Adrianna and gave her our kennel to use since we have no puppies anymore.


• Watched "The Dark Night" in theaters. (Jere really wanted to see it on the big screen)


• Celebrated Jere's 26Th birthday in KC. We rented a hotel room at the Intercontinental, visited the Nelson Atkins Museum, ate dinner out and swam in the hotel pool.


• Went swimming with Scott, Lynn and the kiddies. It was my first ever time visiting Gage pool.


• Got my hair cut. (not short, just to trim stuff up)


• Went to a BBQ held for my friend Amanda. She was in town for a bit and it was awesome to see her and Austin. :)


• Relaxed and mentally prepared ourselves for this fall. Jere will be going back to school and taking 18 hours.
