The Things I Dream About

I often find myself wondering what new houses are listed on the local real estate website. So I go and take a look and usually find something.

"I wonder if we could go ahead and buy it and just make the $250 payment while fixing it up and living in our currect house" is usually what goes through my mind.

I consider this house to be a jewel. Of course I haven't seen it in person...Isn't is sooo cute? I'm going to have drive by and look in the windows. Wait till you see the inside. There is so much potential! I don't know that the neighborhood is the best, but it's located in a historic section of town.

Details:
$27,500
4 bedrooms
2 baths
2 Story Residential
2042 sq ft
Forced A/C & Gas Heat

"Sturdy Victorian w/loads of potential."

Hey look! Here's the entry and as you can see, it's already got a lot of the process of drywalling finished! For me that is a definite thumbs up.

This is another view of the entry way. The only problem I see here is dust on the railing...easy to fix and carpet on the stairs that is probably pretty nasty. Looks like new entry tile.

I think this might be the living room. The house has one fireplace and Jer and I have already decided that a fireplace is a must in our next house. I wonder if it works...

Kitchen - Could use some sprucing AND a dishwasher! Looks big enough for an eat in table.

Dining Room since it matches the kitchen paint?

Bedroom, I assume.

Another bedroom?

What do you think? Would it be a good investment opportunity? In all honesty, we're not buying right now but I wish we were and I love looking and thinking about it!

We might be crazy

We're still working on our house. We're really really close to being done. It is exciting to think about moving and relaxing for a couple of weeks. However, there is stuff that needs to be done. We are ready to be finished with this really large project.

So, when we're super motivated to work, we try to take advantage of that. Take today for instance: Last night we took the night off from our house. We needed a night off and we knew that this weekend is going to be a crazy work-on-the-house fest. We woke up today feeling refreshed and ready to go.

Reagan is going to purchase an air mattress tonight, while I start working. We are planning to work until we drop, and wake up and work some more. This is a crazy messed up idea of a work-lock-in. Imagine a Ren-Fest or an Art Fair, but with drywall mud, sanding and paint.

Maybe we're crazy, and the first night sleeping at the house is going to be a work-night. But, we need to take advantage of the time we have this weekend. If we don't stay the night, we'd miss most of the morning by sleeping in. I will naturally want to sleep before Reagan and she'll naturally want to sleep in longer than I will. It works out great this way. If I go to bed, she can stay up, and when I wake up, I work while she sleeps.

We're going to take pictures and post them later. Wish us luck in our first work-on-the-house-like-crazy-because-we're-crazy-lock-in.

Classy Wallpaper

This is awesome. I dig the awesome collection of wallpaper we've found while doing our remodel.

For all of you out there who hate wallpaper, have no fear. All of this wallpaper has been removed. See...

As far as I can tell, Reagan, my wife, has no plans to put up any wallpaper.

Lynn helped me take down trim tonight - She was such a big help! We were both drenched with sweat by the time we were done :)

This window is pretty bare with all the trim gone. We need to take it down so that we can tear out all the plaster and put up drywall.

Some trim from the doorways and windows and wall bases.

Trim and more trimOur house is a mess but moving along:)

House Remodeling

Last weekend we tore town a soffit and removed the built in's that were dividing the living room and dining room. I love the new feeling our living space has - it's really open now.
This was where one of the built in's were located. My brother is tearing out all the plaster this week because it is all cracked. We are putting up drywall once the interior is down to the studs. EXCITING!

Jere spent the afternoon tearing down this stone that was in the corner of our living room. It took him several hours as it was attached pretty well!
Only 3/4 more to go!

And all of the stone is gone - YAY!

We'll try to keep you posted on what we're doing!
