First Haircut

Brighton was born with a lot of hair. Since his birth it's been slowly dwindling and getting more scraggly by the day! So I decided to trim it up. I know it's not very obvious but it looks a lot better now that he doesn't have random strands of hair that are four inches long sticking out from his head...

Mobile Uploads

I did it...I chopped my hair off. I am loving it so far but it's only been a few days. Jere's already wondering how he'll deal with the agony of me "growing it out again". All I have to say is...I've been growing it out for the past three years. In my history of growing out hair that is like an eternity because I used to change it so often.

Any Ideas???

I want a new hair style. I am thinking I'll go shorter, but not too short. I am thinking short as in below my shoulders still? I really don't know what I want but I haven't had a haircut since July 29th (four months so you don't have to do the quick math) and I am feeling a rough around the edges. I have an appointment with my stylist on November 19th.

What I don't want:
Bangs (long are okay)
Too many layers to make my hair look flock of seagulls-ish when straight
Short layers around my face that have a pixie look

What I want:
To wear it curly, easily
Shorter Length
Easier to work with

I really like this lady's hair, probably mainly because of the volume and waviness. Maybe when I wash my hair tonight, I should try doing something with it to see what it's capable of in it's long state. It's become tangly, rough in texture (dry) and no matter how much conditioner I use it's not soft. Driving me crazy!

Here are some pictures of previous hairstyles I have had. I look back and think I don't want to do short again...I don't like the way my hair is in this first photo. It looks better short when it has gel or a little wavy.

This was a disaster haircut from some place like supercuts...I could have given myself this haircut.I like this hair okay. It's just fairly normal.
It's obvious to me that I still did not know what I was doing with curly hair at this point. Note the kind of frizzy loose wavies. I discovered that I had curly hair at the ripe old age of 18. It's not crazy crazy but it can be curly. It can also be straight fairly easily - easier if I wash it, wear it and flat iron later than immediately after blow drying (otherwise really poofy, frizzy) I found a picture in my cleaning the other day that proves that my hair can be curly, really curly. I just need a cut and the know how to make it look right! I'll probably never fully understand what I'm doing with it but all I know is that I'm ready for something a little different. Below is a more recent photo (this year). I just don't know...Any ideas for me? Seen any cute hairstyles lately that you would like to share with me??? Pllleeease!

Locks of Love

After seeing Kari-On donate her hair to locks of love, I thought about doing it too. I've thought about it in the past but have never had long enough hair. After looking into it I realized that I couldn't donate because my hair has been highlighted too many times. So I found someone to donate instead! My sister Ruthie has been growing her hair out to donate (I didn't know) and she was ready for a change on top of that. So I gave her a hair cut :)

So we straightened her hair out so we could get the length right and took our pictures...

She had just enough to donate. 10 inches from the bottom of the pony tail holder. You are supposed to cut above the ponytail holder.

Then we plunged in and chopped it off. Because the pony tail was so thick I had to ax away at it and Ruth and Rachel (who took some pictures while I cut) started to freak out that it was taking so long. I had to explain that Ruth has crazy thick hair!

I love cutting hair and once thought about going to school for it. Although I am not the best, she liked the outcome :) And I got my fix for donating some hair and giving a hair cut.

After I was done cutting her hair, the back had this interesting sweep to the side and curled under on the other side...

Ruth and I had talked in the past about hair cuts she could do and this one always came up because it's funky and fun...She has never dyed her hair either - it's beautiful!

Here she is with the final product. I love it on her - she looks so cute.
